Vote EVANS for ME Because MAINE Should Be As Good As Its Promise!
CANDIDATE, MAINE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES, DISTRICT 120
I am a practicing general surgeon in solo private practice in Dover-Foxcroft. As a physician and prior United States Air Force Hospital Commander, I am keenly aware of the fact that our collective communities are best maintained and determined by the needs of the people. Growing up in Houston, Texas in the area in which I did, and with the persistent encouragement of my parents, I realized early on that everyone at some point in their life needs help from someone else. In my case, it was the guidance by my parents, the dedication and persistence of my teachers and the gentle coaxing and caring for my welfare by the elders in our community. I know what it’s like for a child not to have fashionable clothing, how a child feels when they have to go to bed without a meal, how hard parents have to work to keep their families together, sometimes having to work 2 or 3 jobs just to get by from one day to the next. I know what it’s like for a child to have to go directly from school to a job to work until 9 or 10pm that evening and yet still keep up with their school work. Parents, teachers and local communities cannot carry this load alone, for it is equally the obligation and responsibility of our state government to do all that it can to help the least among us. This requires leadership and the willingness to get things done, not gridlock and entrenched ideologies. “Maine, The Way Life Should Be”, is a good slogan, but it’s not enough. When you head to the polls, remember that Maine Should Be As Good As Its Promise.
